Lateka C. Martin

Lateka Chaundra Martin was born April 14, 1973, to Ollie Faye Martin in Detroit, Michigan.

Lateka attended school in Detroit, Michigan, gaining her GED and achieving an Assisting Degree at Ross Medical College. Lateka was a hard-working lady. She previously worked at Goodwill Industries, University of Notre Dame, and was currently a manager at Burger King.

Lateka’s bright smile, nonchalant laugh, sparkly eyeliner, and jewelry were her trademark. She was also a free spirit who you never seemed upset no matter what she was going thru.

Lateka closed her eyes to rest peacefully Monday, May 25, 2020. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandma, Odie Bell (Gill) Evans; mother, Ollie Faye Martin; cousins: Alana Joy Gaines and Tremaine McGhee; daughter, April Rice; and granddaughter, Sharianna Martin.

Lateka leaves to cherish her memory seven children: Amira Martin of Dayton, Ohio, Miquan Martin of Detroit, Michigan, Tiana, Alana, Promise and Terrisha, all of South Bend, Indiana; one sister, Shakisha Martin; three uncles, five aunts, many cousins, all who she’s the oldest of; a close friend, April Lott. She will also be greatly missed by those she served at each and every job.
