Levester Buckingham Jr. Obituary

Levester Buckingham Jr. was born to Levester Sr. and Birdie Bell Buckingham, on July 6, 1945, in James Burrow, Arkansas, and later moved to South Bend, Indiana at an early age.

He attended South Bend Community Schools and concluded his education at Riley High School where he enjoyed playing football, running track, and traveling. His favorite hobbies were Bar-B-Que cookouts with the family, croquet games and he liked the Chicago Bears. He was a fan of listening to the news, reading the newspaper, and crossword puzzles. 

Shortly after high school  Levester, affectionately known as “Buck” and “Junior” to his wife, was employed at Uniroyal for over 20 years, as well as several other jobs. Just to name a few, Gentner Trucking Company and National Wine and Spirits. 

Levester met the love of his life, Lue Bertha Stevens and they married on September 25, 1965. To their union came five children: Yolanda (Eric) Doks, Levester III, (Denise Yay Yay), Sonya Stevens–Buckingham, Raymond Buckingham, and Carlos Buckingham. Levester also fathered Joy Lynn Brown and Billy Buckingham.

Levester had 20 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He had the pleasure of spending time with the following grandchildren: Jamaica Paradise Cole (Pooh Bear), Devon Dokes, Doressa Buckingham, Jerejah, Jo`den Jennings, and Cashmere Buckingham (Peanut). 

Left to cherish Levester’s memory are his four sisters: Cory Perry) Mincy of South Bend, Indiana, Frances Turner of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Lula Peak and Renee Fay Brown; and one brother, Terry Buckingham, all of South Bend, Indiana.

Levester was preceded in death by his father, Levester Buckingham Sr.; his mother, Birdie Bell Buckingham; a grandson, Ramon~ Jeremiah Hamilton; brothers: Timothy Lee, James (Sonny), Jimmy Lee, Charlie B.; and one sister, Linda Brown; and a nephew, James Jerome Cotton Sr.
