Linda Lewis Obituary

Linda was affectionally known as ‘Linnie Faye' in our family. Linda transitioned from this life to wings after a three-week battle with COVID at Memorial Hospital leaving a large hole in our family's heart.

Linda was a God–Fearing lady. Her faith was the most important thing to her. She also loved her family very much. She was a caring person and loved having family and friends over for a nice barbeque or a good meal, with lots of laughs.

Linda left her family broken-hearted but at the same time, we are all so grateful to know that she is now with the Lord, where there is no COVID.

She confessed her hope in Christ and was baptized in 1967. Linda was a lifelong member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully. She held many posts while there: from the Sunshine Band, Junior Choir, Sunday School teacher, a member of the Matrons and Deaconess, just to name a few. Linda had a God-given gift for speaking and praying.

She graduated from Riley High School in 1976 and attended Indiana University, Terry Haute, Indiana as well as Indiana University South Bend. Linda worked twenty-five years for Auto Motive Decal and 10 years for Goodwill Industry.

Left to cherish her memories is one loving sister, Brenda Lewis, Placentia, California; five brothers: Herbert Vinegar, Diamond Bar, California, Jerry Lewis South Bend, Indiana, Bobby Lewis (Linda), South Bend, Indiana, Jackie Lewis (Mercy), Anaheim, California; one half-brother, Arthur Lewis III (Charmaine), Spokane, Washington; two stepsisters: Gaylon, Lewis, Dallas, Texas, Bridget Lewis, Eudora, Arkansas; one stepbrother, Bryon Lewis, Killborne, Lousiana; and a long list of “Brother and Sister Cousins;” she had eleven nieces and nephews; a host of great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

Special friends the four amigos (Marieta Clark, Diana Gammage, Jeanette Oliver, Tammy Manns) and Wanda Dudely.

Linda was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Lewis; brother, Raymond Vinegar; grandfather, Rev. Jessie James Parker; grandmother, Ethel Parker; mother, Ms. Willie Ruth Chism; and father, Authur Lewis Jr.
