Louis Love Sr.

Louis Curtis Love, Sr. "LC" was born on February 28, 1932 to the late Alex and Savannah (Gaines) Love in Tunica, MS. 
In 1950, LC moved to South Bend, IN, where he was united in marriage to the late Eddie Faye Bunting on July 8, 1952. To their union six children were born.

As an active member of Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Deacon Love, served as supervisor for the Junior Ushers, instructor for Senior Ushers, managed and coached the church’s softball team, involved with the prison and Haitian missions, and pioneered the a free hot lunch program with his wife, Faye, alongside of him.

In 1999, he relocated to Conway, AR where he became a member of Palarm Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and later he joined Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church. In 2014, he relocated to Sterling Heights, MI where he attended The Eastside Vineyard Church in Shelby Township, MI.

He enjoyed being around people, fishing, bowling, watching sports, playing cards, and dominoes.

He was a hardworking man who worked multiple jobs to provide for his family such as a Paint Mixer, Construction Laborer, Auto Detailer, and other odd jobs.

He returned to South Bend, IN in May of 2015, where he reunited with Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and departed this life on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the age of 86.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Lillian M. (Murphy-Gathright-Washington) Love, six children; Wallace Cole, Glenda (Anthony) Houghton, LaRae Houghton, Felicia Love, Louis C. (Jamie) Love, Jr., Eddie G. Love; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; three sisters; Gloria Hunt, Evelina Thomas, and Janice (Timothy) Williams; one step daughter; Sheila Gathright; five step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter; Yvonne F. Love, two brothers; George C. (Lizzie) White, Jessie J. (Mary) Love, one son-in-law; Harold Lee Houghton, and two step daughters; Tongie (Carlos) Fowler, and Quintelia "Tina" Gathright.

Services will be held on both Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26, 2018. A viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Alford's Mortuary. A Funeral Service will take place Saturday, May 26, 2018 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 12 Noon.
