Lovie May Jones

It is with profound sadness yet immense admiration that we acknowledge the passing of Lovie May Jones, affectionately known as "Moms," on December 21, 2024. Born on January 30, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, Lovie lived a vibrant life full of laughter, love, and resilience. She was a beacon of strength and courage, her radiant spirit casting a warm glow on everyone she encountered.

A born nurturer, Lovie was never officially employed but dedicated her life to the noblest of callings, that of a homemaker. Her home, always filled with the tantalizing aroma of her cooking, was an open door to friends, family, and anyone in need of a warm meal and a kind word. The yard was her canvas, where she painted vibrant pictures with her decorations. Lovie's loyal heart had an uncanny knack for turning houses into homes, and strangers into family. South Bend was the only place she ever called home, and she was its heart, its soul, and its resilient beacon of hope.

Lovie is survived by her children; Erik Neal, Veronica Williams, Melanie Gilliam, Regina Morris, Maceo Neal, and Reginal Morris, who were her pride and joy, and her siblings; Doncella Jones and Ronnie Jones. She now joins in eternal rest her parents; Robert Sr. and Abbie Jones, and siblings; Emma Thomas, Mary Jones, Jean Watkins, Gwendolyn Harris, Brenda Jones, Carmel Jones-Steed, Robert Jr., and Terry Jones. Lovie's legacy of love, courage, and resilience will continue to live on through her children, her siblings, her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and all who were fortunate to have known her.

Lovie May Jones's life will be celebrated on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana.
