Marie Rosalyn Kanitz, born on October 12, 1955, in Osceola, IN, USA, was a vibrant soul whose life was a testament to resilience, joy, and the power of love. Marie resided in Marion, Indiana, where she filled her days with laughter, wisdom, and care. She spent her professional life as a medical assistant at a Rehabilitation Center, where her dedication and passion touched many lives. "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well," Ralph Waldo Emerson once said. This quote encapsulates Marie’s life - she lived well by making a difference in the lives of others.
Marie was a devoted mother and a cherished friend, her laughter was infectious, and her spirit indomitable. Surviving Marie's physical absence are her loving daughters, Artilya (Thomas) Buggs-Long, Katrina Wilson, and Onassa Bond, as well as her caring son-in-law, Thomas Long. Each of them carries forward Marie's legacy of love, strength, and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Margaret Kanitz, who await her in the realm beyond, their love for their daughter eternal.
Marie Kanitz was a woman of incredible strength and unwavering love. Her life was a beautiful testament to her spirit, and she will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate her life and the impact she made on us all. "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply, becomes a part of us," said Helen Keller. Marie is now a part of us, forever woven into our hearts and lives.
We invite you to share your memories of Marie and upload photos to the memorial page. In this way, we can all remember and celebrate Marie's vibrant life, her unforgettable laughter, and her boundless love for her family and friends.
