Mattie Donaldson

Mrs. Mattie Donaldson, 92 of 706 S. Falcon St. South Bend, IN expired Wednesday morning December 27th, 2023, at 702 S. Lake St. South Bend, IN.

She was born May 28, 1931, in Okolona, MS to the late Sue Anna and Ozee Gillespie, Sr. there she received her formal education and Christian training. April 17th, 1949, in Okolona, MS, she married Archie Donaldson, Sr. They moved to South Bend, IN in 1951 with Mr. Donaldson's brothers. After many years of employment, she retired from Bouris Restaurant. Since retirement didn't agree with her young at heart spirit, she went back to work and retired from Colbert Packing after 17 years of employment. She was a faithful member of Greater Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Larry Davidson until her illness.
Mrs. Donaldson was an extremely loving mother not just to her biological children but to many. She leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters, RuNell Hill of South Bend, Indiana and Sheila (Stanley) Donaldson-Butler of Ridgeland, Mississippi. One son, Archie Donaldson (Joanne), Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, 7 grandchildren, Reginald Donaldson, Darius Donaldson, Jovanna Wright, Teena M. Hill, Larisha Reed-Blower, Laron Reed Donaldson, and Koren R. Butler., 18 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Archie Donaldson, Sr., daughter, Erica Remee Donaldson, 16 brothers and sisters, a grandson Kameron Markel Butler and a great grandson Rashaun Donaldson and her son-in-law, Monte I. Hill.
