On May 16, 2025, our world became a little dimmer as the vibrant light of Michael Ray Adkins Jr., affectionately known as "Mic Mic" or "So Sic," transitioned from this earthly realm. Born in South Bend, Indiana on August 28, 1976, Mic's life was a testament to resilience, and his spirit was a beacon of love and generosity. His laughter was contagious, his personality magnetic, and his heart was filled with an enormous love for his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Mic's love for life was infectious; his hobbies were simple yet brought him immense joy. Whether it was spending time with his family, riding his scooter, shooting hoops, cruising around the neighborhood, or fishing, Mic's spirit was always high. He found solace within the walls of the Open Door Bible Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where he was baptized six months prior to his transition, a testament to his Christian faith. The Bible verse that resonates with Mic's life is Romans 12:10, "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." In life, Mic was a protector, a savior, who would even give the shoes off his back for the less fortunate. His love and devotion extended beyond himself, making him a favorite amongst many.
Mic is survived by his loving significant other, Natika Murry; his proud parents, Michael (Donna) Adkins and Jacqueline Lee; siblings, Donald Adkins, Demetrius (NaShay) Avance, Tequilla Adkins-McKinstry, Raenna Lee, Jehakeira Lee, Jameelah Lee, Kevin White, Karen White, Chiquita Adkins, and Michael Fredrick; his cherished daughter, Taryejaha Adkins; sons, Michael Moore, Cornell Adkins, and Rashodd Chick; and his adoring grandchildren, Gabrielle, Ky'mir, and Meilanni. Mic is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Juanita Lee, Percy Lee, and Freddie Ewing, and his cousin, Percy Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 30 May 2025, at 4:00pm EDT at Alford's Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46601. As we gather to celebrate Mic's life, remember his infectious laughter, his resilient spirit, his loving heart, and his generous nature. Let us cherish the memories we shared with him and be thankful for the time we had.
We encourage friends and family to share their cherished memories of Mic, upload photos, and celebrate his life on his memorial page. In Mic's honor, continue to love, to laugh, and to live with a generous heart.
