Michael Eugene Brown, a beloved family man, trusted friend, and respected member of the Elkhart community, breathed his last on July 9, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born on June 3, 1953, in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael moved to Elkhart, Indiana, where he made a significant impact on everyone he crossed paths with. A testament to his hard work and dedication, he attended Elkhart High School, served in the U.S. Marines, and worked for 13 years in Shipping and Receiving at Gunite Corp. Michael married his soulmate, Leenetric, on August 1, 1987. His love for his family was only matched by his passion for fishing, a hobby that brought him immense peace and joy.
Michael is survived by his wife, Leenetric Brown of Elkhart, IN; his father, Hubert Wright of Pontiac, MI; step-mother, Lois Harper of Elkhart, IN; son, Michael Brown of Elkhart, IN; daughters, Timeka Bridges of Milwaukee, WI, Ebony Crawford of Center Point, AL, Tina Hines of Elkhart, IN and Monica Sutton of Indianapolis, IN; siblings, Angela Anderson, Shelia Jackson of Elkhart, IN, Linda Harper of Atlanta, GA, Hubert (Cheryl) Brown, Glenn Mason, Aaron Harper and Keith Harper of Elkhart, IN, Marshall (Stephanie) Harper of Cincinnati, OH; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Brown; siblings, Linda, Joyce, and David Brown.
As we mourn the physical loss of Michael, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each one of us. His life was a testament to his faith as stated in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
A life beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. The Celebration of Life for Michael will be held at Unique Outreach Ministry, 2649 Morton Avenue, Elkhart, Indiana, on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 12:00 pm. Pastor Don “Duane” Williams will bring the Word. Burial with military honors will follow at Prairie Street Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
