Michael Shawn White, affectionately known as “Crime,“ was born on January 22, 1960, in South Bend, Indiana, to James White, Sr., and Mother Della White. He was the eighth child of twelve born to their union. On February 14, 2026, our beloved brother made his transition. He fought with remarkable courage and strength, upheld by the love of family and friends who remained faithfully by his side. Though his journey was difficult, he met every moment with grace, resilience, and a spirit that inspired everyone who knew him.
Michael’s heart was generous, his presence comforting and his love unwavering. He touched the lives of everyone he met with kindness and asked for nothing in return. To know him was to feel seen, valued, and embraced. His wisdom and his gentle way of caring for others will remain with us always. Michael loved openly, generously, and without hesitation, and because of that, he was cherished by all who knew him.
He attended Linden Elementary School and LaSalle High School. Michael spent many hours at the Martin Luther King Center, now known as the Dream Center. The Center’s staff always knew when Michael and his bubbies where in the building. His work history includes Goodwill Industries and Wells Electronics.
He leaves to cherish precious memories a loving daughter, Tetra Winston, Atlanta, Georgia, a son, Quentin White, South Bend, Indiana; his Mother, Mother Della White; Brothers, James White, Jr., and Kenny (Joyce) White, South Bend, Indiana, Edmond White, Albany, Georgia, Aaron White, and Sylvester Buckingham, South Bend, Indiana; Sisters, Michelle White, Karen L. White, and Yolanda White, South Bend, Indiana.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, James White, Sr.; Sisters, Ava Jeantte Taylor, and Joanna White; Brothers, Derrick E. White, and John Stevie White. He leaves a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Although we grieve his physical absence, we honor the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. A legacy of compassion, strength, and boundless love. His light continues in the memories we hold, the stories we share, and the lives he shaped simply by being himself.
