Mrs. Louise Jones Obituary

Mrs. Louise Jones (Barr) passed away at home on 1219 Napier Street, Tuesday morning. Nov. 5, 2024, surrounded by her family members. On Feb. 11, 1934, Louise was born to the union of Mrs. James Barr and Estelle Barr in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mrs. Louise Jones Barr later married D.K. Jones and to their union bore 7 kids.

"Loyalty" was her name. She loved her children, brothers, sisters  and other family relatives unconditionally. Always willing to help ANYONE in need. She was a longtime South Bend "Legend", as a press & curl hairdresser on Rush and Diamond Street. Her customers would say Mrs. Jones would press your hair like a perm but without the chemicals that would last for a whole month! Although she only had a middle school education, she was "Gifted with Wisdom and Discernment", always giving out encouraging advice to everyone. She was a woman that stood on her business. She would always say "Take care of your business FIRST, your business will take care of you! One of her favorite subjects was talking about men & women relationships. She strongly believed in "Human Rights". She loved to eat but never got fat. One of her favorites was vanilla ice cream. As a matter of fact, it was the last thing she would accept to eat.

She loved birds, flowers, gardening, most of all going fishing everyday with her Best Friend-Sister, Essie Smith (Barr). Her favorite singers: Mahalia Jackson, BB King and Elvis Presly. She would tell us she played with him in Tupelo, Mississippi when he was a poor little boy.

Rest in Peace, Power & Love. Our strong beautiful Mother you will always and forever live in our hearts. We look forward to seeing you again in the New Paradise.
