Mr. Murry Stevens, 87, of Corby Blvd., South Bend, Indiana passed away at his residence on February 2, 2021, of a broken heart after losing his beloved wife. Murry was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 8, 1933, to Bailey and Darphelia (Webb-Stevens) who both preceded him in death.
Murry moved to Chicago, Illinois then moved to Benton Harbor, Michigan in 1951. In 1956 he moved to South Bend, Indiana, and met the love of his life, Willabea Moore whom he united in holy matrimony on October 22, 1960.
Willabea preceded him in death in 2020; his daughter, Evette Webster preceded him in death; along with a stepson Gary Moore Sr.; five sisters: Jeanette (Herman) Brown, Louise Garrett, Myrtle Morrow, Ernestine (John) Parker, and Bobbie Jean (John) Ward; four brothers: Eddie, Billy, Curtis, and Richard Stevens, a granddaughter, Silvia L. Henry; and a son-in-law, LeAndrew Walton.
Murry worked as a paint mixer for 30 years for AM General and retired in 1996. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge 298 since 1983, where he enjoyed a lot of his free time.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include two daughters: Reah (Troy) Stevens-Hill of South Bend, Indiana and Silvia (Henry) Walton; three sons: Michael (Debby) Byers both of Benton Harbor, Michigan, Willie Walker of Toledo, Ohio, and Gary Webster of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
