Nancy Carothers

Nancy May Carothers, 79, of South Bend, Indiana departed in Christ on the morning of Thursday, March 31, 2022, in Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Elkhart, Indiana.  She was born November 14, 1942 in South Bend, Indiana to Jake Claybrooke and Christine Claybrooke.

 She graduated in 1960 from Washington High School.  Nancy started working for Headstart around 1977, where she worked for about 25 to 30 years and then she retired.  Her family and friends were so delightful to her.  Nancy was always in great spirits, no matter what was going on in life.  And everyone who knew her knows she always ended conversations with saying “The Blood of Jesus”.

 She leaves to cherish her memory, her 11 grandchildren: Paris Carothers of South Bend, IN, Darshay Foster of Indianapolis, IN, William Carothers lll, Sharay Herron, and Anthony Herron Jr., all of South Bend, IN, Diamond Carothers of St. Louis, Missouri, twins: Kyrin and Kamrin Jones, twins: Kayla and Jeremiah Jones, Keenin Jones,  all of South Bend, IN, Nancy also had eight great-grandchildren, that loved her dearly: Jay`Rion Carothers, twins: DaRiyah and Darell Swanson, Whitney Carothers, William Carothers 4th,, Wayde Carothers, Wriley Carothers  and Ja`Shar Taylor.  Also left to cherish her memory are close cousins, family and friends.  Nancy had a big heart and always wanted to help everyone in any way that she could.

 She is preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Christine Claybrooke; her brother, Jake “Butch” Claybrooke Jr., and her two lovely children, William A. Carothers Jr., and Kelli L. Carothers.

Services for Ms. Carothers will be held Friday April 8, 2022 at 1 P.M at the chapel of Alford's Mortuary 1222 Napier St. South Bend, IN 46601 with visitation held at 12 Noon until time of the service.
