Pamela (Chambliss) Nelson, 55, of South Bend, Indiana departed this life at 7:57 pm on June 10, 2021, at the Ernestine Raclin Center for Hospice. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on December 21, 1965, to the late LeRoy Chambliss and Brenda D. (Chambliss) Gary.
Pamela was a 1983 graduate from LaSalle High School here in South Bend. Pamela was united in marriage to Lee Charles Nelson. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Bethel College. She was employed for the South Bend Community School Corporation and the Boy’s and Girl’s Club as a teacher’s assistant for 24 years. Pamela was a God-fearing woman who loved to sing. She sang with several gospel groups and choirs including Spiritual Vision. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age. She was an active member at New Bethel Tabernacle under the leadership of Pastor Cecil Golder. She served at this ministry until the Lord called her home. Pamela loved to serve others. She really loved shopping, coordinating her clothes with her mate, and nurturing children.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughters: Ashley (Keith) Jackson, and Asia Johnson both of South Bend, Indiana; two sisters: Felicia Chambliss of South Bend, Indiana, and NeChelle McAlpin of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren: Alyric, Alasia, Ay’Den, Alicia, and Air’eeul; a host of nieces and nephews; along with other relatives and friends.
Pamela was preceded in death by her husband Lee Charles Nelson; her father, LeRoy Chambliss; her mother, Brenda D. (Chambliss) Gary; her paternal grandparents, Robert & Emma Chambliss; her maternal grandparents, Woodrow Sr., & Jessie McDonald.
