Obituary

Richard Eugene Pfeifer Jr, November 26,1969 - August 22, 2023, South Bend, IN Ricky transitioned from this world surrounded by family and friends as we shared love, touch, prayers, laughs, and Ricky stories on Tuesday August 22, 2023 in his Mother's home. We wanted him to be healed and rise from the bed while also wanting him to suffer no longer, giving him permission to pass on. Mercy finally arrived.

What a great young man he was! He was fun, responsible, respectful, strong-willed, intelligent, argumentative, loyal, opinionated, interesting, kind, decent, and loved his family/friends and his mother's world-famous sweet potato pies. He loved Star Wars, Star Trek, the Dallas Cowboys, Notre Dame football, Fantasy Football, Las Vegas trips, his car, and his independence. Ricky had lifelong friends from Holy Cross Elementary to Martins on Ireland Road and all places he worked. He loved & respected his big sister to whom he gave grief, adored his nephew for whom he gave cover, and genuinely cared for his cousins, always inquiring about them. Ricky was concerned about many.

He was your brother, uncle, or confidant; whatever was needed at the time. He was a special kind of person to say the least. Oh Ricky, you will be missed!

He is survived by his mother Charlotte Pfeifer-Gillam, father Richard Pfeifer Sr, step father Verge, Bro Sage, Gillam, sister, Carla (James-deceased) Pfeifer-Green, brothers, Donne Fisher (deceased), Ryan & Chris Pfeifer; step sister Alyisha Maddox, step brothers Zerrick & Greg Gillam; nephew Cameron Teague; special cousin, Keith Gantt Sr; also cousins: Kim, Chris, Darla, Brandi, KJ, Kendra, Bubba, & Alice. In Ohio, he has a whole other Love/Davis/Jackson Clan. His face looks just like the Love/Davis Clan of Ohio. Karla Ball is here to represent.

Richard graduated from St. Joseph's High School and reached junior level at IU South

Bend. Insurance sales became his profession at State Farm then Liberty Mutual.

Blessings and gratitude to his special caretaker friends: Melanie (Ron) Donelson, Dave (Emily) Kiska, Dan (Laura) Barnes, Victor, (Danyell) Benson, Christoper Thorpe & his Mother- Clara Halbert. Hospice PROMEDICA made his passage comfortable and bearable. Thank you, Fred Teague for your help at the end.

He had a solid sense of justice, equity, and individual responsibility that he practiced.

Rick knew who he was and as a result, had a great life and lived it his way despite lifelong asthma and sometimes debilitating allergies. If you want to honor his life, get regular medical checkups, and do not ignore signs your body will send you that something needs attention.
