Richard Robinson Obituary

Richard Lanell Robinson was born April 3, 1963, in South Bend Indiana to the late Verneader and Willie Robinson. He was the youngest of four children. Richard gave his life to Christ at a young age and was a member of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for many years.

Richard also known as “Wild Buck” attended Harrison Elementary School. He graduated from Washington High School in 1982. After graduating from Washington High School, Richard served as a crane operator specialist in the United States Navy from 1982-1990. His duty stations included the Philippines, Hawaii, and Japan.

Richard married Janice Watkins on August 27th, 1990. From this union, Kamilah Z. Robinson was born. Richard was a jack of all trades. He was a line leader at Accuride, an Assistant manager for American Airlines, and a commercial front-end loader for Waste Management. He worked for St Joseph County Highway Department as an Equipment operator before he fell ill with COVID-19. He developed long-lasting friendships with coworkers throughout his career. One of Richard’s pastimes was cooking. He would make seafood boils, neck bones, and Salmon for his family. Barbequing was his favorite; he was the ultimate grill master. He was known for his barbecue sauce; it will be missed by many. Richard was extremely competitive when playing dominoes and cards, especially Uno. He liked to go bowling and going to the movies. On the weekend, you would find him at Sunrise Cafe. He also started a breakfast outing for his friends at Top Notch. Spending time with family and friends was important to him. He sent morning prayers daily and did not miss a beat. He was a kind and compassionate person who believed in helping anyone he could. Whether it was a stranger on the street or a friend in need, he always went out of his way to lend a helping hand or an encouraging word.

He is preceded in death by his mother Verneader Robinson, father Willie Robinson, sisters Rosetta Coleman, and Willie Mae Williams, and brother Eugene Robinson.
