Rita Nelson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Marie Nelson, a devoted mother, cherished sister, and beloved friend, who departed this life on April 24th at the age of 44.

Rita was born on May 5, 1981, in Mississippi. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, forming deep bonds with her many siblings that remained strong throughout her life. Her home was always filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of togetherness.

Above all, Rita was a dedicated and loving mother to Keena and Lyndale, who were the center of her world. She poured her heart into raising her children with kindness, strength, and unwavering support. Her love extended far beyond her immediate family—she played an active and nurturing role in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved as her own.

Rita had a gift for connection. She maintained lifelong friendships and had a natural ability to make everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether through a phone call, or simply her presence, she made a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children, Keena and Lyndale, a host of brothers, sisters, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory. 

Rita will be remembered for her strength, her generous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she held so close to her heart.
