Robert Brantley Obituary

We invite you to join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Robert Brantley, also known as Robert Brantley Jr., who was born on August 4, 1952, and departed this world on March 26, 2024.
Robert resided in South Bend, Indiana, where he left an indelible mark on his community through his smile, humor, and dedicated service. An incredibly funny and courageous individual, Robert had a contagious smile, a warm spirit, and a heart full of love and kindness. His unwavering loyalty was an inspiration for everyone who knew him.

As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation." Robert, with his supportive and dedicated nature, did just that as he spent over a decade in the ministry, serving as a Custodian at Broadway Christian Parish, United Methodist Church. Robert's joyous personality and generous spirit were most evident in his love for his family and his service to others. He found the greatest pleasure in spending time with Aunt "Faye" and his sister Nadine, their company filling his heart with love and laughter. His supportive nature extended far beyond his family, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Robert's life was a testament to the words of Albert Schweitzer, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and service, survived by his nieces Pamela Merriweather, Tiffany Mulundi, Jennifer O'Neal, Jamesha Brantley, Diane Brantley, Marquita Logan, and Roniesha Fountain. He is also survived by his sister Nadine Lara and Aunts Glenda Gadson, Mary Palmer, Elnora Chism, and Brenda Williams.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother Alberta Brantley, father Robert Sr., brothers Ronald, David, Allen Deberry, Michael Brantley, and sister Lois Brantley. We encourage you to honor Robert's memory by sharing your stories, photos, and memories on his memorial page.

Your contributions will serve as a comforting reminder of the funny, loyal, supportive, and courageous man that Robert was. Let us remember him not for his departure, but for the joyful and impactful life he led, the smiles he inspired, and the difference he made in our lives.
