Robert Williams

Robert Eugene Williams affectionately known to us as “Bobby Wobbs” (and to the younger generations “Uncle Bobby”) of South Bend, IN departed this life on April 18, 2023 after battling a long-term illness.

Bobby was born to Everette and Elise (Smith) Williams on August 16, 1953. Both parents preceded him in death.

Bobby is survived by both of his two children; Earl Williams of Indianapolis, IN and Erica (Sheridan) Darden of South Bend, IN, 11 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren which he loved very, very much! 2 sisters; Elsie Lena (Leonard) Taylor of Ozan, Arkansas, and Nelda (Henry) Clay of South Bend, IN. Bobby also had 3 brothers; Dellie (Madeline) Johnson, Andrew (Shirley) Williams, and Everette Williams all of which preceded him in death.

Uncle Bobby had a way of making everyone around him feel as if you were the most important person to him, especially his nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. He also had many great nieces and nephews and love them all with all he had in him.

Bobby attended Riley High School of South Bend, IN. Bobby was a man of many talents which included painting houses, sub-contracting for general labor, along with a varying degree of whatever he put his mind to; Uncle Bobby did it! Uncle Bobby loved to play pool and would talk a mile worth of stuff as he was kicking your butt. Uncle Bobby kept things fun by always cracking jokes. He gave nick names to most everyone he met. The funnier the name, the more he loved you!

Our family would like to give a special thanks to Sherdain (Skip) Darden for keeping him encouraged. He knew he could always count on you! We also want to give a special thank you to Anthony (Tony) Johnson for taking great care of him during his final days. Thank you for being there unconditionally to care for him. Uncle Bobby was loved by so many and he gave us that same love back, with interest. He will be greatly missed! 

Services for Mr. Williams will be held on Friday April 28, 2023; 12 Noon in the chapel of Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
