Ronald Buggs

Ronald “Ronnie” Eugene Buggs, 61, of South Bend, Indiana was called to enter into his eternal rest in the early morning hours of Sunday, November 22, 2020.

Due to extended physical ailment, he had been a long-term resident at Healthwin Specialized Care, prior to his care being transferred to Memorial Hospital. Throughout the provision of his care in its various stages, Ronald was supported by his family, friends and loved ones.

Ronnie was a native of South Bend. He grew up on the city’s West Side and attended South Bend Central High School. He served in the United States Army. He was self-employed following his return to civilian life.  He also possessed technical acumen in the building trades.  Ronnie was keen on family, and he took great pride in being a father. He also took pride in his skills as a grill master; barbecue was his specialty. Ronnie was loved and respected by many. 

Left behind to cherish his memory are his children: his daughter, Paradise (Rodney) Lovely of Indianapolis, Indiana; his daughter, Lavon Shankea Buggs of Indianapolis, Indiana; his son, Ronald Eugene (Shaniqua) Nichols of South Bend, Indiana; his daughter, Jaqueisha Buggs of South Bend, Indiana; and his daughter, Jatia Buggs of South Bend, Indiana.  Also mourning his passing are his maternal siblings, David Rial (LaRissa) Buggs and Teresa Buggs-Markham; paternal siblings, James L. (Turf) Jennings, Johnny Jennings, Michael Jennings, Anthony Jennings, Kevin (Ella) Jennings, James (Anita) Jennings, Jr., Leon Jennings, Janice West, Teresa Avance and Carol Jennings. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, James Martin Jennings, Sr., and his mother, Mary Ellen Buggs; three older maternal brothers, Fred Wilson, Vernon Buggs, and Charles Buggs; paternal siblings, Joseph Kambui Jennings, Jr., Demetrius Jennings, and Patricia Adams; two nephews, Vernon Buggs, Jr., and Shawn Wilson.
