Roosevelt "Sonny" Binion

Roosevelt Binion, fondly known as "Sonny" for his sunny disposition and natural ability to light up a room, embarked on his heavenly journey on January 23, 2026. Born on October 5, 1958, in Greenwood, MS, USA, Sonny was a beacon of joy, spreading laughter with his funny and witty antics. His generous spirit made him a favorite among his friends and family. 

Growing up, Sonny had a knack for making any mundane day feel like a party. His thoughtful nature was seen in his careful selection of music that he loved to play during long car drives, an activity he cherished as much as a good party. His love for music was infectious, and he often turned a simple car drive into a delightful concert on wheels. Sonny's passion for life was as vast as the open road, and he navigated it with a joyous heart, residing in Greenwood, South Bend, Indiana, and finally settling in Indianapolis, Indiana.

What mattered most to Sonny were his three lovely daughters, Catherine Hall, Letitia Phillips, and Eleanor. His love for them was immeasurable and his pride in them, boundless. Sonny is survived by his daughters, Catherine and Letitia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Minnie Binion and an unknown father, who surely welcomed their funny, witty, and generous son with open arms in heaven.

As we remember Sonny, let us not mourn his departure, but rejoice in the life he lived. His spirit lives on in the stories we share, the songs we sing, and the memories we keep of a man who lived his life in full measure.
