Brother Roosevelt Irby was born in Paulette, Mississippi on December 30, 1929, to Joe and Calvene (Griggs) Irby.
In 1960 he moved to South Bend, Indiana. He was employed by AM General Corporation for 10 years; Clark Buchanan Corporation for 12 years; and Wheel Horse Products for 14 years where he retired from.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 41 years, Christine Irby; children: Juanita Irby-Stevenson, Pamela Irby, Tony Irby, James Irby, Maurice Irby, Marguitta Irby, Cynthia Kingberry, Felicia Kingslow and Tanya Mitchell. Also cherishing his memory are brothers and sisters: Catherine/Tommie Sykes of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Calvene/James Phillips of Miami, Florida, Otha/Angeline Glenn, Miami, Florida, Alice/Jeremy Wheatley, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Betty Howard, Nathan Glenn, Larry Glenn and Leotha Rogers, all of Cleveland, Ohio; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a special great-granddaughter; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Calvene (Griggs) Irby; brothers: L.D. Glenn, Robert Covtis Glenn, and Alfred Irby; grandson, Marcus Irby Jr.
