Ms. Sandra Laverne McCoy, age 63, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord on May 23, 2026. Sandra was born on January 23, 1963, in South Bend, Indiana, to Willie Jean Taylor and Albert L. Jones.

Sandra, affectionately known as “Puddin’,” attended LaSalle High School and worked for many years as a dietary aide at nursing facilities including Milton Home and Healthwin Specialized Care. She enjoyed reading books, listening to Gospel music and sermons, talking with friends and family on the phone, and spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved with all of her heart.

Most importantly, Sandra loved the Lord and was a deeply devoted Christian. As an adult, she rededicated her life to Christ and, in her words, “let go of old ways.” She was a longtime member of Prayer Tower Ministries and Old Landmark COGIC, where she faithfully served and continued growing in her relationship with God.

Sandra leaves to cherish her memory her stepfather, Robert Taylor Sr.; her children, Courey Prieto, Kayla Hampton, and Shayla Hampton; her grandchildren, Ka’Riyah Harris and Jerrionne Harris; her siblings, Isaac Jones, Robert Taylor Jr., and Patricia Taylor; her former husband, Walter McCoy; her special friends, Donna Wright, Barbara Taylor, and Patricia Riles; along with a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Willie Jean Taylor; her father, Albert L. Jones; her grandmother, Ima Jean Cutler; her aunt, Elnora Patton; and other beloved family members.

Funeral services for Ms. Sandra Laverne McCoy will be held at Alford’s Mortuary, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford’s Mortuary.
