Silas Howell Obituary

Silas T. Howell, 47, affectionally known as "Tremayne," earned his wings on Saturday, September 4, 2021, unexpectedly. Silas was born in South Bend, Indiana on October 23, 1973, to Charles Howell Jr. and Sherrine Reid-Tates.

Silas was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back if he needed to. Silas loved to cook and grill and he was very good at it and he made sure you knew he made it. As a young kid, he spent a lot of time with his grandmother, Elizabeth Howell, and his auntie, Renee Howell-Davis who he lovingly called "A-Nee" and his uncle, Charles Griffin.

Silas loved to travel even if it was by foot or a bike. He was determined to get wherever he needed to go. He would often stop in Indianapolis to see his daughter, Silasha, and his two grandchildren: Samiya and Siya who he called his "Pooh-Pooh" and "Fat-Fat" whom he loved dearly. He was the proudest father and Paw Paw especially after witnessing the birth of one.

Those left to cherish his memories are his father, Charles Howell III; one daughter, Silasha Howell; three sisters: Sher  Dean, of South Bend, Indiana, Sowana Chatman-Hill of Elkhart, Indiana and Dakissha Person of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Charles (Chaz) Howell lll; two grandchildren: Samiya and Siya Howell; grandmother, Elizabeth Howell; nieces and nephews: Sherquia (Marcus) Hill, Jequia Chatman, Keith Hill Jr., William Ward lll, Lorenzo Ward, Cionna, Cam'ron, Jamisha, Camry, Chaz, Christian Howell, Dewana McKinstry, Aaisa Lynch, Miracle Hunter, Spiritual, Pierre, Jeremiah Person; great nieces and nephews: Mia and Mar'Kye Hill, Dakota Murphy, Dior Taylor, Princeton Howell; aunts and uncles: Leon, Robert, Joseph McDonald, Vanessa (Donald) Townsend, Eddie, Dee (Wanda), Charlotte, Charles Griffin, Glenn (Rebecca) Howell, Allen Howell, Renee (Willie) Davis, Judy Makori; and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherrine; grandmother, Annie L. Baldwin; grandfather, Charles E. Howell Sr.; aunts: Nancy Howell, Kathy Cole, Quincy Heflin; and an uncle, William Howell-Bey.
