Stanley Lauderdale, affectionately known as "Tree" by those who knew and loved him, was a beacon of light in the lives of many. Born in Niles, Michigan, on July 18, 1960, to the late James Sr. and Vilee, Stanley lived his life with an infectious smile and a heart full of compassion. He moved from his hometown to South Bend, Indiana, where he would remain until his passing on December 29, 2023. Stanley's radiant smile, which could light up any room, and his knack for always leaving a conversation with a positive note, will forever be etched in the hearts of those he left behind. Stanley's life was a testament to his love for others. He spent his career serving in various nursing homes and healthcare facilities, where his passion for helping people shined brightly. He was a gentle giant with a heart as big as his stature, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. In his leisure time, Stanley found joy in the simple art of drawing, skillfully sketching images that captured the beauty he saw in the world around him. As the Bible verse in Proverbs 11:25 says, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." Stanley embodied this verse, living his life as a refreshing and uplifting presence to all who knew him.
Stanley is survived by his son's Justin and Jason Lauderdale both of South Bend, IN, his brothers, Rickey Lauderdale of Laporte, IN, Timothy (Jamie) Lauderdale of Benton Harbor, MI, and Jeremy "Tut" (Kelly) Lauderdale of Marietta, GA, his grandchildren, Jalen, Demetrios, Antonio, Bailey and Nayellie Grose and many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered by family members, and his oldest niece Tammi Foxx.
He was preceded in death by his father James Lauderdale Sr., his mother Vilee Starnes Lauderdale, and his siblings, Mitchell Lauderdale, Patricia Greer, Larnelle Forrest, Donald Lauderdale, James Lauderdale Jr., Linda Thomas, and Eugene Lauderdale.
Stanley's life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, kindness, and generosity. His legacy will continue to inspire those he touched. We invite you to join us in remembering Stanley by sharing your memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. Let's come together to celebrate the remarkable life of a man who was truly a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brought forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also did not wither, and whatever he did prospered (Psalm 1:3).
