Tommy Owens

Mr. Tommy Lee Owens, 79, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 10:02 A.M March 31, 2025, at his home in South Bend, with his son Patric Lee Owens by his side.

Tommy was born on January 15, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana to Oleavia Owens who preceded him in death and raised by his aunt Artisha Newbill. Tommy attended Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. He was employed by Raco and retired after over 30 years of service. Tommy was united in marriage to Patricia Webb for 18 years and to this union one child, Patric, was born.

Tommy leaves to cherish his memory, his ex-wife and dear friend Patricia Owens; three sons; Gary (Sonya) Watkins, of South Bend, Indiana; LeTroy Newbill, of Chicago, Illinois, and Patric (Yolanda) Owens of Indianapolis, Indiana; one daughter; Sonya Newbill, of South Bend, Indiana; one god-daughter; Tajana Habersham of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four siblings, Diane Lottie-Owens, Ervin (Patricia) Lottie, Barbara (Rev. Cary)Batteast, and Cornelius (Cathy) Lottie, childhood and lifelong friends Robert Johnson and Edward Stokes, all of South Bend; along with a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Along with his mother, stepfather Johnie Lottie, Sr. and his aunt Artisha Newbill; Tommy was preceded in death by his brother Johnie Lottie, Jr.

After his retirement you could faithfully catch Tommy hanging out with all his buddies at Lincolnway Grill or Sunrise Café. Tommy was a real-life gentle giant who always put everyone else before himself. He was a lover of music and loved riding around in his Cadillac listening to his tunes. Tommy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
