Torrey Plump Obituary

Torrey Lamar Plump, affectionately known as "Tuffy" by family and friends, took his final bow on March 2, 2024. Born on September 17, 1976, in South Bend, Indiana, Torrey was a unique blend of humor, creativity, compassion, and love. Gifted with an infectious laugh and a heart full of kindness, he brought joy to everyone he met. A self-employed mobile mechanic by trade, Torrey was a wizard with all things mechanical, his craft was not only his livelihood but his passion. His love for fixing cars was only rivaled by his love for his family, whom he cherished above all else.

Torrey's life was a beautiful testament to his faith in God. As it says in Proverbs 17:22, "A cheerful heart is good medicine," and Torrey's cheerful spirit was indeed a healing balm to those around him. He was a beacon of light, his compassionate heart guided his actions, and his creative spirit brought a unique perspective to every situation. Torrey, with his loving nature, built a life filled with laughter, love, and warmth. His presence was a gift, his memory a treasure.

Torrey is survived by his dear children, Torianna Plump, Caleb Shell, Tierney Shell, Torrey Jr., Dorion Plump, Justice Malone, Honor Malone, and Tor’velle Plump. He also leaves behind his brother, Stanley Jr., stepfather Kevin James, and his beloved grandchildren, Ja’Dora Plump, Jaxton Shell, Kimani Person, and Lainaumi Person along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and special friends.

Torrey is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Sr. and Para James, and his grandparents, Sam and Anna Plump, and Milton and Vernall Lax.
