It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved Valerie Renee Mitchell, who departed this life on February 17, 2024. Born on Valentines Day, 1982, in South Bend, Indiana, Valerie's life was a testament to love and compassion.

Valerie attended Eggleston Elementary and Dickenson Middle School. Living her life with a devotion to service, she found her calling in the healthcare field, working at Golden Living and Tanglewood Assisted Living in Mishawaka, Indiana as a CNA and QMA until she became ill.

Val was always laughing and loved to eat junk food. When she felt like it, she would also braid hair. Valerie was a beacon of hope and a source of comfort to many including her pets who she treated like her own children, a pitbull (King) and her mini chihuahua, (Mika). She also loved shoes, clothes, listening to music and having fun. Valerie's absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit continues to live within the hearts of those who loved her.

Valerie is survived by her loving mother, Lillie Phillips, her supportive stepfather, Cleveland of South Bend, In. Her caring sisters, Michelle (Starsky) Cook of Indianapolis and Keisha Scott of Tennessee. A dear goddaughter Da'Mareyia (Marcy), and her cherished nieces and nephews, Datreion, D'Mitri, Jontae, Jarontae, Mya, Jameisha, and James. Each of them holds precious memories of Valerie that will be treasured forever.
