Wendell Preston 80 years old, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at 1:30pm Thursday, May 22, 2025, at home after an illness with his wife at his side. 


Wendell was born on August 7th, in Paris, Texas to the union of Fred A Preston Sr.(deceased) and Burlene Preston (deceased). Wendell was married to his devoted wife, Gwendolyn for 57 years. He leaves to cherish his memories daughter Felicia and son Tyrone (Regina), brother Pastor Fred Preston (Marcella) of South Bend. Grandchildren Derrick of Las Vegas and Cameron of Noblesville and Chandrea of Ft. Lauderdale, along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; brother John Wayne Preston (deceased) and sister Oleta Hayes (deceased). 
Wendell Preston graduated from Brandywine High School, the first graduating class. He served in the US Army as a MP; and retired from John Handcock Ins.  Company after 35 years. Wendell never met a stranger; he enjoyed talking to everyone. He enjoyed spending time at the Martin Luther King Men's Club. He was a faithful member and deacon at Saint Luke Memorial Church of God in Christ until declining health. He will be greatly missed.
