Mrs. Zola Harris, 64, of Victoria Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 24, 2020, at Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Zola was born to Willy Love James and Rubynell Willis who both preceded her in death; along with her stepfather, Charles Parker, brothers; James Gates, Robert Willis, Alvin Willis, and Christopher Lee.
She was united in holy matrimony to Ronald Harris on January 17, 1998, in South Bend, Indiana. She worked at Avanti Motors then moving on to AM General Corporation where she worked over 30 years until she became ill and retired. She held many positions within the company and with the UAW Local 5 Union. Titles included the 1st African American Female President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
One thing about her she was about family and friends and her faith in God. Sundays she was present at church on that back pew ushering. She enjoyed time with her grandchildren and house dog “Tuff.”
Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ronald Harris; her children: Eva Williams and Kisha Davis all of South Bend, Indiana; stepson, Dennis Davis of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; and son that she called, Joe (Galinda) Taylor III; grandchildren: Asian Dawning and Iyon’na Brumfield; her sisters: Theresa Wills and June Willis; her brothers: Ruben Willis and Frank (Marie) Willis Sr.; then those special friends: Bernice Tredwill, Bridgette (Kirk) Kyle, Brenda Montgomery, Michelle (Kenneth) Kyle and James Dawning; godchildren: Jacqueline (Gene) Pritchard, Kandence and BJ Kyle, all of South Bend, Indiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
